Together Louisiana "On a Roll"

There are moments when you know all the hard work has been worth it. For 130 faith and community leaders from across the state, Tuesday was one of those moments.

On Together Louisiana's "People on a Roll" Conference on Tuesday, the Institute of Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEFFA) released a report on the impact of industrial tax exemption reform, a seven-year campaign of Together Louisiana.
The report was a bombshell.
It found:

• ITEP reform has restored $17 billion of industrial property to the property tax rolls which previously was tax-exempt
• Delivered $282 million in new repeating revenue to public schools and parish services in 2021 alone, including:
  • $113 million for schools
  • $55 million for law enforcement
  • $115 million for other parish services
    
• Restored $761 million in new local funding cumulatively over the last five years
• Had NO negative impact on capital investment or jobs. In fact, industrial capital investment INCREASED by 50% during the post-reform period vs. the five years prior to reform 

These findings affirm ITEP reform as one of the most significant grassroots efforts of policy change in the history of the state -- "a campaign of national significance," according to Greg LeRoy, an economic development expert with Good Jobs First.
